What is Cacao?
Cacao is native to tropical America, an evergreen species growing in the lower belts of the rainforest. It dates back to the Mayans and Aztecs. Cacao was so precious to them. To have cacao beans in your pocket was like having a wallet full of cash. The beans grow in beautiful pods cushioned by a delicious sweet white fruit pulp.
The wonderful sustainable organic cacao I serve is made by an cooperative of indigenous Bri-Bri women in the Talamanca Mountains of Costa Rica. Costa Rica’s Talamanca region, Indigenous Bribri women are championing sustainable agroforestry practices in a tradition that stretches back for millennia. Known as fincas integrales, it’s a system that mimics the diversity and productivity of the forest: timber trees provide shade for fruit trees, which in turn shelter medicinal plants, amid all of which livestock and even wildlife thrive. The community here practices a resilient and ancient agricultural system called agroforestry that also benefits biodiversity and climate change, since perennial and annual crops are grown together to mimic a forest. The Bribri are one of the world’s few matrilineal societies: land is handed down from mother to daughter. Cocoa is at the centre of another noteworthy ancestral practice, forming the core of their sacred rituals. “Cocoa represents women in our cosmovision,” López says. “We drink it for marriages when a person dies, when we are pregnant for the first time. Cocoa is purification, it represents our blood.”
Most cacao is commercially used to make chocolate, although unfortunately most of its benefits are lost with the high temperatures and the processing it undergoes to make the chocolate. Because the Cacao Magic Costa Rica is 100% pure cacao and in its most original and natural form, we can reap all the benefits cacao has to offer.
Cacao boasts 700 compounds known to us. Not only does it boast a very high nutrient content it also triggers the body to release neurotransmitters which can help us to open our hearts to feel more love and a sense of euphoria. It has life enhancing and disease preventing properties. Of all foods in the world, cacao has the highest levels of antioxidants. Cacao also helps to lower blood pressure and inflammation in the body, thus helping to protect the body from cardiovascular disease and many others. There are many more benefits, but the last one I will mention is the ability of cacao to increase the flow of oxygen to the brain by 30-40%, thus supporting cognitive activity and lucidity.

Review from Glenna
I have sampled many different ceremonial cacaos and Cacao Magic is by far the smoothest and creamiest and has the most exquisite earthy depth of flavour as the beans are unroasted... I just love the fermented rich taste and silky texture and it's sweet heart opening vibes... Such a joy to prepare this special brew with some oat milk or similar there isn't any need for additional sweetener . I have attended several of Nicky's Cacao events and her passion for this heart opening medicine, its nutritional properties and her joy for bringing healing, heart connection, soul expansion and inspiration into people's lives is clearly evident..
Review from Sinead
Gentle, comforting and a smile that's glows from the inside outward. That's how I would describe Cacoa ó chroi. I am very grateful to have been introduced to Nicky through healing work and from this decided to purchase Cacoa ó chroi, I'm an avid supporter of this magically and precious plant, sampling and enjoying many different products along my journey, Cacao ó Chroi has taken top spot. The energy I feel from this is so harmonic to my body, it is gentle and supportive and nourishing. Made by the Bri-Bri women in the Talamanca Mountains, the spirit and energy of both can be felt in each cup. The taste is devine. My receipe is cacoa, oat milk, hot water, spoonful of honey, ginger, cinnamon, lions mane 🤍✨
My Own Journey With Cacao
The first time I sat with her beautiful aroma in my hands I knew this moment was truly special. As we set our intentions deep in the Costa Rican Jungle in excited anticipation of dancing through the chakras, I felt a sense of purpose and peace, as though everything was going to be alright whatever was in store. I found all my passions coming to life like never before, the sweet bitterness of this drink of the gods reminding me that I was there to drink a powerful heart opening medicine and not just a hot chocolate. All plants have a spirit; cacao has a very motherly spirit which brings kindness, compassion and connection to oneself, other people and of course Mother Earth.
Listening to Jody speak about the wonders of cacao, how incredibly nutrient dense she is and how she helps release all the glorious neurotransmitters that give us a sense of euphoria while opening our hearts and entangling us in gratitude and unconditional love, I realised that I had found one of the missing links to my passion and purpose in this life.
For the last 7 years I have dedicated my life to helping and inspiring others to find their own inner healers, through nutrition and cooking. In time realising there is so much more we can offer to ourselves for our healing journeys than diet and exercise. Cacao, I knew could offer a healing from the heart to help us drop into the parasympathetic nervous system, where all healing miracles occur.
As we moved and danced intuitively to the pleasing music Jody took us on a journey to help open us up for the energy to flow freely through our chakra points. The cacao allowed me to feel safe and free to express myself authentically from the heart; for no one else but for me.
As we journeyed through the year in the jungle I felt more and more connection with this sacred feminine plant and of course the journey of life itself. She helped keep me open to share more of myself without shame or attachment to what others might think. She allowed me to sing from the heart, dance so freely to further express my creativity like never before, with dark emotions passing through at times, giving me a chance to release, let go and move on from old wounds and patterns. Learning that life is not a competition but a collaboration. We are here to co-create and be in flow to manifest magic in our lives. Living from the heart takes time to learn but once you find that connection, it gets much easier to live in love, acceptance, trust and surrender. The more we live from the heart the less we sit in the rational mind where fear, doubt, guilt and shame can take over. As “stress is the epidemic of the 21st century” I feel it is truly important for us to find more ways to relieve it and to live from the heart in peace.
While living at the wonderful Farm of Life I came across a beautiful family who lived down the road who were sharing cacao and ceremonies. I decided to go and live with them and learn all about this sacred Cacao Magic Costa Rica.
During this time at the Cacao Magic house I established a deeper connection with myself and the spirit of cacao and knew I was destined to share this wonderful plant medicine with others. Noa supported me on a fascinating journey to find my soul purpose with cacao, EMF balancing technique and kinesiology,
I feel my soul purpose is to create a healing space for people on their journey. To inspire others to follow their hearts and discover their own inner healers and unique gifts.
Cacao Ceremony
A video by Ben Forsyth
After being on an incredible healing journey with my cervix, feeling super charged and ready to share this subtle, yet powerful plant medicine, I arrived back to my homeland of Ireland with the intention to lift the hearts of my own country. I realised the more I lived from the heart and encompassed her as one of my guides, the more my intentions would come into being and the more magic I was manifesting into my life. The more I dived into my passions, the more they started to turn into my purpose. Learning more about movement, creative flow, synchronicity and nature, while diving deeper into my musical abilities, I started to feel much more at one with the world around me. I feel I am still near the start of my awakening journey and there is so much more magic to explore in this life.
Since I’ve been home I have hosted many different kinds of ceremonies in Canada, Holland, Denmark and Ireland including chakra dance, gratitude dance, women’s sharing circles, awakening one’s sensuality, song circles, creative flow workshops, connection to nature and how it helps increase one’s intuition. I will continue to share cacao with the world, hoping to lift the world's vibration to love, helping people manifest their dreams, find their purpose in life, so we can live more in harmony with ourselves, others and Mother Earth. (see pages about group ceremonies and personal ceremonies to find out more)
Sitting in ceremony by yourself or with others can be a truly life changing experience. It is a time for us to navigate change in our lives, to welcome new cycles. It is the bridge between the material world and the world of the unseen, the divine, the power of the universe. Setting a powerful intention and staying engaged during the ceremony can really send us into flow with the universe where our dreams can be manifested to life. Ceremony helps us seek guidance from our inner wisdom, inspires us to create from the heart, helps us to let go of the past and make space for something new.
